The Fixed Head Coupe was one of the original E-Type body styles, used for the famous debut of the model before the motoring press in Switzerland in 1961. Prototype '9600 HP' had been such in demand for test drives by journalists that its departure for Geneva was significantly delayed; under the instructions of William Lyons, Jaguar's public relations man Bob Berry drove it flat-out in a journey from Coventry to Dover, then on the midnight ferry to Calais and over the Alpine roads to the Parc de Eaux Vives in Geneva, reportedly with only 20 minutes to spare. Smooth and sensual in its curves, the 'FHC' is widely considered one of the most beautiful British coupes ever produced, and one of few to equal the styling glory of its roadster sibling.

Jim Taylor acquired this Series I 4.2 E-Type in 2002 following the completion of a meticulous restoration by marque specialists, in silver with burgundy leather interior accented by matching Wilton wool carpets. The work was completed to the very highest standards throughout, reflected in its condition two decades after its completion. Panel fit throughout is excellent, and the interior remains scarcely used, tight and perfect with clear, crisp gauges and polished steering wheel, reflecting the odometer which shows just 209 miles at the time of cataloging with commensurate signs of use visible in the engine compartment. The car retains its original numbers-matching engine, both block and cylinder head, with triple SU carburetors, as well as a four-speed manual transmission, all as per the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate.

This is a marvelous example of the E-Type in its classic form.
