The Mercedes-Benz R107 is still a very popular car. That is not so surprising because it is a true all-rounder. It is a convertible that you can use for a short drive on a nice day or use as a daily car. The example shown here is an all-rounder because the car is also equipped with a rear seat. This car has been fully restored and technically overhauled in the more recent past. The car has been dismantled down to the last screw and completely rebuilt. The work was carried out to a very high standard and the result can still be described as: beautiful!

The body is in perfect condition. The sheet metal is nice and thin and the fits are correct. During the restoration, the car was beautifully repainted in its original color and, apart from a few, really insignificant, very light signs of wear, it is still in top condition. The car is on the original wheels fitted with good tires in the correct sizes. The convertible top was renewed during the restoration and is also still in top condition. The hood looks almost new and fits beautifully everywhere.

The interior has been completely reupholstered. Here too, the work was carried out with a great sense of originality and the result can only be described as excellent. The carpets fit well everywhere and have a perfect fit. The leather on the seats is wonderfully supple and, of course, the opportunity was used to refill the seats during the restoration. Furthermore, the Becker cassette radio and the beautifully maintained instruments and controls stand out.

The technology is perfect for each other. The engine runs fantastic. The 3.5 liter inline eight produces 200 horsepower and is mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. During the restoration, all rubbers of the suspension were renewed, as well as the shock absorbers and brakes. That means the SL still drives at least as well as it did on the day it first left the factory gates in 1971. At the time, the Mercedes-Benz R107 generation was already praised for its good driving behavior and in that respect little has changed in the past 50 years, especially for this example, which is in absolute top condition both optically and technically.

The work was beautifully documented at the time through an extensive photo series. In addition, the original manual is present. In short, a beautiful, European delivered Mercedes-Benz 350SL from 1971 in absolute top condition. Without a doubt one of the best on the market.
