Toyota
Toyota’s origins lie in the Japanese weaving industry, when Sakichi Toyota invented the world’s first automatic loom and, subsequently, set up the Toyota Spinning and Weaving Company in 1918. Sakichi’s son, Kiichiro, was handed responsibility of Toyota’s automotive operations in 1930. The first dealership outside of Japan was in America in 1957. Today, Toyota is one of the world’s largest car manufacturers, in both unit and net sales.
