This is a beautiful Maserati Merak SS from 1976. The Merak has always been a bit of an outsider in the world of classic Maserati's. The SS version is quite rare, with only 1,000 units produced. In order to distinguish the SS version of Merak from the ordinary Merak, Maserati followed the age-old principle of making the car lighter and providing it with more power. The Merak SS is therefore 50 kilos lighter than a regular Merak and has 220 hp instead of 190 hp. This example was delivered new to its first owner in Barcelona and has spent its entire life in the warmth of Spain. This is a matching numbers car that will be delivered including a Maserati certificate.

The car also shows that. The bodywork looks beautifully cared for. The paint has already been repainted once for cosmetic reasons, but looks beautiful. The car is on the original wheels which are also in very good condition and are fitted with good tires in correct sizes. The European version is an infinitely nicer car than the version that was delivered in the United States and this example is naturally equipped with the beautiful small bumpers. Another striking feature of the design is that the Merak looks like a pure two-seater from the side while it is a 2+2. However, the rear seat is not exactly suitable for transporting several people, a few small children will just go and a few bags are no problem.

The interior is beautiful. The leather is original and wonderfully supple. The carpets are in very good condition and fit correctly everywhere. When opening the door, you immediately notice the wonderful equalizer that fits beautifully with the interior of the car. The interior is also an example of Italian finesse. The ergonomics are well done and the car has a very pleasant seating position. The all-round visibility is very good and although the Merak is a car with compact dimensions, there is enough space in the interior to find a comfortable seat. The instruments and controls all function as they should and things such as the headliner, steering wheel and poker are only in neat used condition.

The technology is always well maintained at the Maserati dealer or specialist. The car comes with the maintenance book that endorses this. The Merak still has its first engine, so this is a matching numbers example that comes with a Maserati certificate. As mentioned, the engine produces 220 hp and is coupled to a five-speed manual transmission. At the time, the Merak was already praised for its fantastic driving characteristics and wonderful road holding. That is no different with this copy. The Merak has not yet had to give up any magic and will bring a smile to your face every kilometer. It is such a typical car that we can say with certainty that that time will never come back. Gone are the days when you could buy a beautiful small Italian coupé of modest dimensions with a wonderful V6. Objectively, the Merak SS could be seen as a more financially attractive alternative to the Ferrari Dino 246GT. Whether the Merak SS will also experience such an enormous increase in value remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: the number of beautiful moments that you will collect with a car like this cannot be counted on two hands.

In short, a beautiful European delivered Maserati Merak SS from 1976 in very good condition with the original maintenance book, a matching numbers engine and Maserati certificate.
