This is a peak classic Range Rover. This one comes with the ever popular 3.9 V8 engine and manual transmission. In the recent past this car was fully body-off restored. The frame was sandblasted and resprayed before putting it all back together. Since it has been restored it has had little use and formed part of the previous owner’s collection. This is a unique chance to buy a beautifully restored Range Rover Classic. The car is a premium Vogue model and although over 3 decennia old, it does not lack in any expected features.

The bodywork was taken back to bare metal, repaired where needed before being fully resprayed. The nice and thin panelwork aligns well. The original colour was used during the respray to great effect. The wheels were also resprayed and shod in correctly sized good rubber. The Range Rover Classic does age so well and still retains an infinite amount of style.

Inside the car is upholstered in the ultimate word in luxury material: velours cloth upholstery. Where these days one considers leather to be the summit in luxury, they used to seem to know better. Velours keeps you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. This lovely material totally suits the Range Rover. The low milage allowed the interior to be left untouched, a decision we can only applaud considering the interior still looks fantastic looked after. The fine looking array of switching gear and gauges all work properly. The carpets, though used, still fit and look neat.

Both engine and transmission were overhauled, leaving us with an excellent driving Range Rover. The 3.9 V8 develops 182 Ps put through a 5-speed manual gearbox. The transmission has pleasant gear ratios well suited the chilled Rover’s torque rich V8’s character. The Range Rover is of course not the kind of car you speed over the German Autobahn in but it does manage modern traffic with comfortable ease. Whilst of course being the King of rough terrain it is equally at home on the road and was quite rightly the first real luxury SUV. We should not forget the selectable FWD.

As soon as you turn the key and hear the trusty sound of its V8 you immediately know you are in a luxury vehicle. Whether you are visiting the opera with your nearest and dearest or hitting a forest trail with friends or even travelling down to French Riviera, this car does it all wonderfully well thanks to it spotless presence and mechanical prowess. Life just as it should be!
