Bonhams sells Alfa Romeo 8C-35 for record sum at Revival sale

An ex-Scuderia Ferrari Alfa Romeo 8C-35 has sold for a record sum of £5.9m at Bonhams’ annual Goodwood Revival sale...

On a drizzly afternoon ‘over the road’ from the on-track antics, the ex-Nuvolari 8C-35 Grand Prix Racing Monoposto went for a hammer price of £5.3m (£5,937,500 including buyer’s premium) - making it the most expensive Alfa Romeo ever to be sold at auction. Auctioneer Jamie Knight dropped the hammer just shy of its £5.5m lower estimate but, despite this, the price also makes it the second most expensive car ever to be auctioned in Europe, behind the ex-Fangio Mercedes W196 (£19.6m) sold by Bonhams earlier this year.
