Zagato-bodied Maserati A6G joins the RM Sotheby’s Monterey line-up

There are still three months until Monterey Car Week, but RM Sotheby’s is already wheeling out the big guns for its flagship sale on 24-25 August. The Canadian auction house will offer this sensational Zagato-bodied Maserati A6G/2000, an ex-factory demonstrator and Mille Miglia entrant…

Trademark Zagato

One of 21 Maserati A6G/2000s clothed by Zagato, RM’s example began life as a factory demonstrator and was promptly put to good use in the 1956 Mille Miglia, driven by Luigi Taramazzo. More recently in 2015, following an exhaustive restoration in America, the matching-numbers Maserati claimed ‘Best in Class’ at Villa d’Este and ‘Second in Class’ at Pebble Beach. Now, it’s headed to California to find a new owner and it certainly appears to have a lot going for it: a fabulous and trademark Zagato alloy body, rarity, Classiche certification, and period competition history. As such, RM has attached a healthy pre-sale estimate of 4.25–5.25m US dollars.
