Both Aston Martin and Zagato never forgot the magic that they created together with the DB4GT Zagato of the early 1960s. Over the years they would occasionally reunite on new projects, including the acclaimed DB7 Zagato introduced at the 2002 Paris Motor Show.

Inspired directly by its famed predecessor, the DB7 Zagato featured truly unique bodywork, sharing only the traditional grille with other Astons. Zagato gave the car their signature 'double bubble' roofline, originally intended to accommodate racing helmets, as well as a gorgeous sculpted rear window above a drop-down deck lid, single round taillights, and special five-spoke alloy wheels. The chassis beneath was unique, shortened by 151 mm to both lighten the weight and visually tighten up the car's proportions, and resulted in slightly better performance over a standard DB7. Passengers could enjoy the experience in a finely tailored interior with quilted aniline leather upholstery, truly a wonderful place to be.

Only 99 examples of the DB7 Zagato were built. Accordingly they remain extremely rare and highly sought-after. As an avid Aston connoisseur, Jim Taylor nonetheless had to have one, and eventually acquired this Cheltern Green over Chestnut car, the 66th built, in 2008. Originally delivered to the legendary musician and performance car enthusiast, Eric Clapton, it still wears its U.K. registrations, '0004 ZAG.' The interior offers the features of power windows, power seats, power mirrors, and 6-disc CD changer. Showing just 3,788 miles at the time of cataloging, the car is still wearing its original Pirelli Pzero tires, and accompanied by its owner's books, car cover in numbered bag, and First Aid Kit.

No lover of Aston Martin or Zagato should ignore this car, a low-mileage example of an extremely scarce model, with outstanding provenance.
