Description
We are delighted to offer this rare and iconic BMW M1 Procar for sale on behalf of its current owner:
Unique Pre-production model built in Procar Specification by the BMW Factory (Motorsport Department) in Munich
History
First delivered by BMW to Niki Lauda as a show car, then to the Walter Wolf Racing Team and subsequently to the AC Schnitzer Team as a show car
This is the very first BMW Procar built by the BMW Factory after the last Prototype (chassis 4301 007) and it is the only pre-production model ever built. This Procar was never raced and was used for Press and Public Relation purposes. It is probably the most unmolested and best preserved BMW M1 Procar in existence.
1979: Displayed as show car at various Formula One races where the Procar race series took place.
Sold to historic race car collector and preparer Christian Traber/Switzerland in 1988
Sold to present owner in 2008 and raced regularly in various races such at the Classic Endurance Races, the Nurbürgring Oldtimer Grand-Prix and Le Mans Classic.
Condition & Spares
The car has had a full mechanical rebuild in 2018:
New brake master cylinders
Rebuilt Calipers
New Brake and Oil lines throughout
Engine rebuilt by Ridgeway Engines
Gearbox rebuilt by Paul Fleming (ZF specialist)
New Fuel lines/filters/pumps
New fuel tank
Rebuilt suspension arms, uprights & bearings
New steering rack
It has not been used since the rebuild.
Spares : 1 set of wheels and a spare gearbox (Le Mans ratio)
The car is sold in 100% race-ready condition and comes with a new, 2019 FIA HTP.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire the very 1st of 49 BMW M1 Procar in excellent, race-ready condition. Welcome at all historic events around the world including Peter Auto's Classic Endurance Race Series, Le Mans Classic, etc..
