Aufbauend auf dem Erfolg der Modelle 3500 GT und Sebring, hatte Maserati Pietro Frua beauftragt, ein neues Design auf dem Chassis des Tipo 109 zu entwerfen. Das zweisitzige Coupé wurde nach den starken Mistralwinden an der Mittelmeerküste im Süden Frankreichs Mistral genannt. Das Coupé war ein umgehender Erfolg und blieb dank hoher Nachfrage bis 1970 im Programm. Im Laufe der Produktion wurden Coupés und offene Spider mit ein paar unterschiedlichen Antrieben angeboten.

Nur 383 Coupés entstanden mit dem 3,7-Liter Motor, von denen dies hier eines der früheren Fahrzeuge ist.

Dieses 3700 Coupé wurde vor einigen Jahren mit erheblichem Aufwand durch spezialisierte Fachbetriebe in mehr als 1.800 Arbeitsstunden vollständig „Body-off“-restauriert und technisch optimiert. Eine umfangreiche Fotodokumentation, zahlreiche Rechnungen und eine ausführliche Beschreibung über den gesamten Restaurationsprozess liegen vor. Ebenfalls vorhanden sind die Maserati Classiche Zertifikate sowie ein Wertgutachten.

Description:

Based on the success of the 3500 GT and Sebring models, Maserati had engaged Pietro Frua to create a new design on the chassis of the Tipo 109. The two-seater coupé was named Mistral after the strong Mistral winds on the Mediterranean coast in the south of France. The coupé was an immediate success and, thanks to high demand, remained in the range until 1970. In the course of production, coupés and open spiders were offered with a few different powertrains.

Only 383 coupés were made with the 3.7-litre engine, of which this is one of the earlier cars.

This 3700 Coupé was completely "body-off" restored and technically optimised a few years ago with considerable effort by specialised companies in more than 1,800 working hours. An extensive photo documentation, numerous invoices and a detailed description of the entire restoration process are available.

Also available are the Maserati Classiche certificates and an appraisal.
