1984 is the year of the presentation of the Super 5 at Renault, supposed to replace the then aging Renault 5. More of an evolution than a real revolution, the model will be offered for sale until 1996 when it will be eclipsed from the catalog in favor of the new Clio.
A long career for this little city car which even managed to be the best selling car in France from 1986 to 1989, just like the sacrosanct Peugeot 205 which was a real competitor in this market.
Competitors, they will be on all the finishes of their respective models and even in the sportiness; indeed, if Peugeot presents its mythical 205 GTI in 1984, Renault enters this sector one year after the lion brand.
To compensate for the lack of dynamism of the old Cleon-iron engine mounted in the new GT Turbo, a turbocharger of Garett origin allows the little city car to develop 115 then 120 horsepower depending on the year.
Lighter than its competitor, the Super 5 will see itself much more affiliated the nickname of ""small kart"", agile and well balanced it is characteristic of the beginnings of the turbo and its kick effect which sticks the driver to his seat.

The car we are presenting is a Super 5 GT Turbo phase 2 first registered in March 1989 in Japan. Having been used as an advertisement on the roof of a Renault dealership in the Land of the Rising Sun, it was entirely cleaned, received a particular care on the paint, the interior and the mechanics in order to give it back all its original shine. Delivered with all these books, it was even equipped with the air conditioning system of the Renault R5 Baccara. With less than 38,000 km, this is surely one of the most beautiful cars on the market and with an unusual history for this little bombshell that has crossed the seas and continents to return to its native land.
