Description

Chassis No. SCFCV81C4HTL15496

Engine No. 5496

Aston Martin's muscular V8 is one of the firm's longest-lived, most popular models, produced in numerous variations for a remarkable two decades. Boasting a remarkably potent engine created by the vaunted Tadek Marek, it was most sensual as the convertible Volante, each of which took about four months to hand-build. Of the 'flat-bonnet' models with Weber electronic fuel injection, produced between 1986 and 1989, just 214 were Volantes.

This V8 Volante was built in July 1986, bearing fuel-injected engine no. 14596, as it does today, and finished as a left-hand-drive, U.S.-specification model in "triple black" – Cannock Black with black interior and top, as noted in the Aston Martin V8 Register. First sold in New York, it was eventually acquired by Jim Taylor in 2005, and has remained well-kept in his ownership for seventeen years.

Equipped with the desirable five-speed manual transmission in lieu of the original automatic gearbox, the car is also fitted with power windows, Nardi wood steering wheel, modern JVC stereo, air conditioning, European-style chrome bumpers above a chin spoiler, and BBS-style magnesium wheels shod in Firestone Firehawk radial tires, as well as the original Wilton wool carpets, floor mats, and black leather top boot. Recording 36,066 miles, it remains in very good condition, with the original interior in fine shape down to the original burled walnut trim on the doors, dashboard, and console. It is accompanied by a small service and history file, including a clean CARFAX.

One of the most attractive and desirable Aston Martins of its era, this is a fine example ripe for enjoyment.
