Beschreibung

Ferrari's 201 mph F40 is the definitive supercar and has a formidable reputation alongside the 250 GTO as possibly the best road Ferrari built to date. With the F40, Pininfarina produced an era-defining creation, one that even today is instantly recognisable by old and young enthusiasts alike. F40's were closely derived from the experimental GTO Evoluzione and the road-going 288 GTO (that the F40 replaced). The design features a tubular steel chassis with bonded composite inserts, most notably around the sills and floor pan, The 2,936 cc motor produces approximately 500 bhp at 7,000 rpm with the help of two water-cooled IHI turbochargers running 1.1 bar of boost. At 1,202 kg, the F40 had, and still has, a phenomenal power-to-weight ratio. Shatteringly fast by any comparison (especially for 1988), the F40 can sprint from 0-60 mph in just 4.4 seconds and hit 201 mph flat out making it the first production car to surpass this mystical boundary.

Thirty-five years after the fabled F40 first made its appearance, we are fortunate to be able to offer this remarkable example which has covered just 749 kilometres to date.

Supplied new to Abdul Rahman bin Mallouh, listed as a director of the Saudi Tarmac Co Ltd in March 1992 through Al Ajda Automotive of Riyadh. The car remained in storage under the personal care of Luca Cordera di Montezemolo in Italy as the owner never collected the car.

The car travelled to Japan in 2001 where it would remain in the care of Mr Miura, famed car collector of both Ferrari and Lamborghini marques and well known for his unrepeatable cars, often in unique colour schemes. The car remained in his care until 2014 when it was inspected by James Cottingham of DK Engineering who thoroughly documented the condition of the car at the time.

The car was sold to its most recent custodian, a prominent Hong Kong based collector, later in 2014 where it remained until purchase by DK Engineering in Febuary 2022.

In the care of Blackbird Ferrari Hong Kong, the car was successfully put through Ferrari's Classiche Certification and it was awarded in December 2014.

Today the mileage of this example stands at just 749 kilometres from new.
