Lotus
With a loan of just £50, Colin Chapman, together with Michael Allen, formed the Lotus Engineering Company in 1952. Initially, the company produced simple, lightweight road and racing cars in small numbers; by the 1960s, the range had matured into serious production sportscars and included iconic models such as the Elite, Elan and Europa. Lotus cars are designed with the famous 'simplify, then add lightness' philosophy in mind.
