Ferrari introduced the Testarossa to the world at the 1984 Paris Motor Show. The combination of Pininfarina's smoothed wedge shape and wide, side air-intake strakes immediately created a distinctive 1980s icon. With seductive and original styling cues, it's easy to see why the Testarossa appeared in films, TV shows, and video games and, consequently, why the Testarossa is lusted after to this day.

When looking to update the beautiful Berlinetta Boxer, the Testarossa's immediate predecessor, improved passenger comfort was at the top of the list. The BB series had the unfortunate habit of heating up the cabin, and its occupants, in warmer weather. Ferrari solved this by relocating the radiators to keep the heat away from the front of the car, challenging Pininfarina's stylists to properly guide the air through them. The solution was wider bodywork and larger air ducts, and at the mercy of various sales markets' regulations regarding the maximum size of its air inlets openings, Pininfarina's stylists ingeniously created several smaller openings within the larger with long horizontal strakes along the side. This combination of cooling ducts and strakes became a key styling feature of the Testarossa and other Ferraris for years to come.

Early US-market examples of the Testarossa had a single exterior mirror mounted high on the A-pillar, and were quickly dubbed "Monospecchio." As a 1986 model, this Monospecchio has 16" Cromodora center-lock aluminum wheels, as opposed to the 15" wheels of the earlier examples. The list of options for the Testarossa in 1986 was surprisingly brief. The original owner opted for the elegant color combination of Argento Metallizzato over Crema and Beige Connolly leather. They also selected the only other available option, Schedoni leather luggage, and four pieces of this well crafted, Testarossa specific custom-fitted luggage are still with the car today.

Most recently, in advance of consignment, it benefits from an engine-out belt service which also included axle seal replacement, and a fuel distributor rebuild. Having covered just over 41,200 miles since new and considered to be largely original in terms of paintwork and interior trimmings, this Monospecchio Testarossa would be a delightful addition to any local Saturday morning event where cars and coffee are most important.
