The 3½-Litre SS 100 Jaguar offered here is recorded in its Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, included in the file, as having been built in December 1937 and retailed through Henlys of London, finished in Gunmetal over silver interior with the same engine and body fitted today. In 1971 correspondence on file with the Classic Jaguar Association, later owner Jon Stout of California noted "the car's first owner was S. Walkr, Charlton Marshall, of Blandford Forum, Dorset. Shipped to U.S. in Sept. 1958, last owner in England was Cleon Arnold of Faling, London, W5." Mr. Stout apparently acquired the car from an L. Spock of Concord, California. He noted that the car was in somewhat rough order and "is now in storage and when I finish school, I shall start to recondition it."

A 1968 California registration in Mr. Stout's name, also in the file, was signed over in March 1990 to collector Dale Johnson of Turlock. Under Mr. Johnson's ownership the car was fully restored to its present beauty, in the perfectly elegant original colors, with several photographs in the file depicting the condition of the car during the work. The owner completed much of the work himself, with a shop in San Francisco handling the engine and gearbox. When completed by Mr. Johnson, the car won a Primary First Prize in CCCA National competition, earning badge no. 1892, and was shown at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in 1995.

The SS was then purchased in 1998 by Archie Urciuoli, in whose ownership it was Judged Most Outstanding Jaguar at the Greenwich Concours d'Elegance. A letter on file from the Classic Jaguar Association confirms the legitimacy of all components, with Mr. Urciuoli having carefully acquired items such as the original wood sills, stamped with the body number, and the original body number tag itself, that had remained "loose" with the car since restoration.

Since acquiring the car from Mr. Urciuoli, Mr. Taylor has continued to lovingly maintain its excellent restoration, while occasionally showing it; it won an AACA award at Hershey in 2009, and has again, in 2010, appeared at Pebble Beach. It presently shows 1,455 miles and displays wonderfully, with the black canvas top, boot, tonneau, and side curtains, as well as contrasting wool carpets and painted wire wheels, showing beautifully against the original paint and interior colors. Accessories include both a standard windscreen and Brooklands-style screens, as well as stone guards for the grille and Lucas King of the Road headlights, and a jeweled cigar lighter. All gauges are original and properly marked, and the car is fitted with correct wiring looms, porcelainized manifolds, stainless steel exhaust, and a correct Lucas tar top battery, as well as the original chassis and body plates. Accompanying the car are the original front fenders and other original components from the restoration, as well as an original chassis instruction book and a second set of chromed wheels with tires.
