Jaguar evolved its XK series of sports cars quite steadily, even in the early years of production. Among the amendments was the availability from mid-1951 of the M or SE package, recognizing the 'Special Equipment' feature of higher lift camshafts. XK 120 Ms bore a S prefix to their chassis number, and in addition to the 'hot' cylinder head were also outfitted with a stiffer suspension, dual exhaust with custom headers, and chrome wire wheels, which necessitated elimination of the rear fender 'spats' for an even more purposeful appearance.
The roadster offered here underwent a ground-up restoration, in the classic livery of British Racing Green over biscuit tan interior with tan canvas top. Indications are that the basis for the restoration was a good, dry-climate car, as the frame retains its original chassis number stamping. In addition to the desirable SE trim features, it is equipped with stainless steel exhaust and a correct set of Smiths gauges. The engine block and head are both stamped with numbers matching the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate on file. At the time of cataloging, the car had recorded 89,216 miles. Accompanying is a set of side curtains in their bag, as well as a matching spare wheel and tire and reproduction tool roll in Everflex.
For obvious reasons, the Jaguar XK 120 is considered one of the most beautiful sports cars ever produced – never more so than in British Racing Green with the SE package. This is a most sought-after specimen.
